I feel like I've asked this question a million times, but does anyone have a natural deodorant that they actually like and have stuck with? Off the top of my head, I've tried: Curie (which is probably my favorite!), Native, by Humankind, and Ursa Major. I like them all for a while and then just feel like it starts being ineffective. So, anyone have a favorite OR is the drugstore best in the end? I do miss the old reliable Dove...
I haven't tried any natural deodorant brands (a certified Dove girl here). But I do have a friend who has made their own deodorant! This is the recipe she has used and she has liked it so far (she has used it for about a month). Let me know if it works for you!!

I really like Schmidts (specifically charcoal magnesium) but they have great ones and scents!
I haven't found a natural deodorant that works for me quite yet. I'm still sticking with the tried and true Secret clinical strength stress response. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'm hoping one day natural deodorants will catch up to my needs. https://www.target.com/p/secret-clinical-strength-antiperspirant-38-deodorant-soft-solid-stress-resp...
So JungleMint has been my favorite. It actually works. I'm sad to say it looks unavailable on Amazon right now, but keep an eye out when it's back in stock! What other natural beauty products are you loving? Could use a good toothpaste while we're at it!
for me it's not so much the deodorant itself, but the CHARCOAL soap regimen. I've been washing my pits with charcoal soap over the past four months and can report a HUGE difference! pro tip: keep the charcoal soap in a soap dish you don't really care about (rather than your actual shower ledge) because it does stain 😂
@Marisa I'm definitely going to give charcoal a try! I have been periodically exfoliating the pits (sounds funny) but I also think that works too! Lots of build up there... this is the place for honest conversations right??
But I'm really liking Drunk Elephant's natural deodorant. Generally, just love their stuff.
Me too! Drunk elephant is my fav deodorant right now! It is gentle, smells nice, and works! No irritation!
I feel like I've tried everythinggg when it comes to natural deodorant (I actually used dove the other day in a pinch and could smell it all day, I didn't like it!) but the two that I keep going back to are the Arm & Hammer Essentials (the juniper berry is my go-to) and Meow Meow Tweet's deodorant (the grapefruit deodorant cream is my fav). The A&H really feels like your classic deodorant, it's in stick form and isn't sticky or chalky, and it actually works to prevent smell and sweat all day and smells good! The Meow Meow Tweet is a little more out there, you can either get the stick form or cream, which I actually prefer because you can take a little pea sized amount, warm it up in your fingers and then rub it on. I find the cream is more sanitary/less messy than using the stick but it's personal preference. It smells good and lasts! And it's environmentally friendly, the stick is made out of a compostable tube and the cream is in a recyclable jar. Let me know if you try either! And for what it's worth, I just ordered a 3-pack of the A&H online because I couldn't find it at my local target and ran out of my second stick, I love it that much!
@molly - Have you tried Lume or MegaBabe? I have made my own before and loved it too!!!
I had cancer so I’m very aware and sensitive to good answers on this topic. First, charcoal soap in the shower on all your stinky parts. I also sweat a lot during my workouts and was tired of my family shrieking away from me post workout before my shower. I switched to Lume and am very happy. I cannot notice/ see any obvious bad ingredients in it. And IT does the job amazingly well!!!
I use Young Living Geranium Essential oil. Just a drop does it! It has antimicrobial properties that fights oder. After all, it's the bacteria on the skin that smells; so completely wash your armpits!
This thread just popped up on my AthletaWell board, so I’m sorry for the years late reply 😅
Echoing the calls for charcoal soap in the shower, then Beautycounter Clean Deo has been my favorite for years (I love the coconut and sequoia scents the best!) and Primally Pure charcoal deodorant has been wonderful for my partner. Hope this helps! I’m happy to connect more if you have questions about either!
I second the suggestion of Primally Pure. The charcoal one is by far my fave. For me it worked the best of the 3 blends I've tried.
I like Beauty Counter coconut. It not only works great with a very soft scent but the case is also refillable. I believe it comes in 3 different scents.
Humble brand is the only one that has worked for me. Almost all the others I've tried either do not work or cause an allergic reaction. This one holds up pretty well, although not always during intense workouts, but day today it's great.
Lume..... hands down!
Have you tried evolvetogether deodorant? I have heard amazing things about them
I had the hardest time finding a natural deodorant I liked (and part of it was the detoxification process) but I’ve used Primally Pure for multiple years now. I used their charcoal version first and then switched to the blue tansy, and I’ve been really happy with them (and I’m a pretty sweaty person).
I had been using Native Charcoal.. but when I sweat.. and I do sweat... sadly, it doesnt work for me.. I may try Lume... But I have to be careful of anything w heavy scents..(migraines)
Yes, I have an Ayurvedic underarm cream that has been on the market for the last decade. I am a small company, currently re-tooling, production will begin again in mid April 2023. I know that it not immediate but it is a wonderful product. The new website will launch around the same time. Until then my Ayurvedic website monavwellness.com will have an announcement when product is ready for purchase again.
Hope you check back,
Edie
I love the EO brand (Everyday Organics). I've bought their spray online but also have found it in TJ Maxx
I have used the brand Kopari for 4 years. It is clean, no aluminum and it works. But it does take time to detox your armpits first, because your skin is clogged with aluminum and other additives. I used Kopari coconut scrub on my armpits for a few days then started the deodorant. I will never go back to harmful antiperspirants.
I agree 💯 Kopari. Smells great (Driftwood (charcoal) and Beach and Tropical my favorites) but not overpowering. Just a soft scent. NO baking soda either. I sweat 6/7 days (aerobics and run) and it works! I’ve used it maybe 5 yrs now? ULTA and Nordstrom sell or Kopari.com.
Hey Molly!!
This is such a common challenge when transitioning to cleaner personal care products. I’ve tried so many over the years — the struggle is real! Haha.
I found a new brand called HUME a year-ish ago through one of my favorite dietitians on Instagram — Kelly Leveque! (Btw highly rec her podcast too! It’s called Be Well By Kelly. So informative!) I’ve really liked it the last couple of times I’ve ordered! I got the family pack to try all the scents. They have 10% off if you subscribe to emails / I think Kelly Leveque has a saved discount code on her Instagram too if you’re looking to save a little money testing the brand out!
Hope that helps!
-Mary 🙂
Hi Molly! Yes! I have tried a few at Sephora recently and have liked them. I liked the ones I tried by Kosas and Caudalie and Maison Louis Marie but I LOVED the one by Drunk Elephant. You should see the deoderant graveyard pile that I have. It's embarrassing! I have tried so many and never like them! That is why I went on a hunt at Sephora when they started carrying natural deodorant and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked them. Don't get me wrong, at $16-18 each, they are way more expensive than those at the drugstore but they last a few months and if we spend that on makeup and other things then I guess it's ok to spend it on something as important as deodorant. Def checkout Drunk Elephant and let me know what you think! 🙂
I love Beautycounter’s Clean Deo. Beautycounter excludes over 1800 harmful or potentially harmful ingredients from their products (the US only bans 30 vs 1500 in the EU). But the deodorant comes in 4 scents & is refillable. A bit pricey, but lasts a while, & cuts down on the carbon foot print with only having to order a refill.
