Osteopenia & osteopenia

Please talk to your Dr about a dexa scan when you are post- menopausal. I was always told that they didn’t do one until 65 for insurance reasons. I finally found a physician who agreed to write up an order for a dexa scan when I was 61, because I was post-menopausal & had a family history of osteopenia & osteoporosis. It revealed that I had some pretty substantial osteoporosis in my spine. There were no symptoms. But if I would’ve been checked earlier, I feel I could’ve prevented some of it.
