Hey everyone—
Since the pandemic, I've been working out from home and I realized...I don't ever want to return to the gym!
Our design team is curious, what are your top 3 essentials for your *perfect* at-home gym? We want to know what equipment, gear, or sportswear would give you the best workout! The design team is cooking up some ideas for future products, and would love your input 😙
My top essentials are: a supportive sports bra (loving the warrior longline bra right now), bala bangles, and a nice yoga mat! Let me know in the comments below what your go-tos are!
Bala bangles, Fit52 app and my Hydrte water bottle!
I love Bala Bangles! Do you use the 1 lb. or 2 lb. weights? Did you know we sell them on Athleta?! https://athleta.gap.com/browse/search.do?searchText=bala
For me - the 3 top essentials: A big screen tv/roku to stream my workout, dumbbells and a good mat!! I must say - a good pair of high waisted leggings matter too - Salutation Stash Pocket II 7/8 Tight😃
I'm all about the high waist @Chris_F the higher the better 🤣
treadmill, various weights and a yoga mat (and lots of Athleta of course)
glad to hear from you Kathleen! are you running exclusively indoors, or outdoors as well? @kathleenruns
Mainly indoors now that it gets dark early 🙂 Hoping to do another marathon next year!
Hi @kathleenruns ! What are your favorite weights & yoga mat? In the market for something new 🙂
cheers to the stash pocket tights! lots of shout outs for then in this thread. I love them, too @Bobbizees
electrolytes (biosteele hydration mix), hand weights, and a show to watch
I've been doing more weight lifting lately at a friend's home gym. Some weight lifting gloves would be good and also resistance bands in fun colors. Also love a good hair tie or scrunchie. I recently saw an ad for scrunchies that had a zipper so you could keep small things like chapstick or keys inside.
whaaa? a scrunchy with a zipper pouch? I feel like scrunchies are making a comeback, huh? @Valerie_C 😍
Salutation Stash pocket tights - especially because they don’t have seams in the inner thighs and crotch. I bike a lot and those seams can be super uncomfortable! Any thoughts on biking apparel at some point?
so glad you've joined us here in the conversation @bmbrush413 😊i'm a huge fan o the Salutation Stash pocket tights, too! I'm into biking, too, so I'd love to hear what everyone is wearing for cycling 🚲as well
I love a good sports bra without a huge tie in the back because I'm often doing exercises where I'm on my back and the comfort is important! The salutation tights are LIFE! As far as equipment... I've fully stocked a minimalist home gym at this point with resistance bands of all sorts (cloth, pull up bands, door anchors) and some weights and kettlebells. I definitely need breathable and sweat wicking lol!
love your call-out re: the back—agreed! crunches are no fun with something on the back of your bra @Leada_M 🤣
I need a scrunchy, hand weights, and water. 😅
good reminder about the H2O! thanks for joining us here in the conversation @brindleyjoy we're so glad you're here 😊
An inspired music playlist, my yoga mat, a water bottle and attitude!
Love that! What is your go to water bottle? I'm loving Hydroflask right now.
Hi Athleta Well Community! Curious I see a lot about hydration on this post. What are your favorite water bottles to stay hydrated for your workouts and every day?
I got a Zulu water bottle from Target as an emergency purchase one day and it's been so useful! I like the fact I can take the bottom off and clean it easily and it won't dent if I toss it around (which happens.. often lol)
I'm a Jazzercise instructor and though being in a group setting is the BEST for motivation, I've discovered that working out at home is also great! I need a great pair of supportive shoes, some cute leggings and top, and motivational music!! I love walking from the bedroom to the dance floor in my living room! No commute or commute time involved!!
I started teaching online workouts when the world shut down.
Check out my fun free workouts on Youtube! I EVEN SHOT A Video at an Athleta store!!!
Everything from mobility, strength training, old school step aerobics and more!!
2 sets of weights (3 lb and 5 lb) and a pad
How to choose? I have all the things – but the three things I couldn’t live without are my Pilates mat and I use a ½ inch thick mat, my ballet barre w/ has a in articulating iPad arm. (Love it so much and gives my space such a awesome definition & has a to hold my weights etc) and my foam roller! These days since I’m back at the studio (wearing my Athleta!) I really use mostly My Home Studio for respite and recovery from the days that are now filled up again with BUSY life. (PS I love my salutation stash pocket leggings I have four pairs!)
Yoga mat, 55 cm stability ball and 18lb body bar 😀
Oh my goodness! I loooove an at home workout…I think I love the dance breaks the most 🙂 (even more than the commute time!!)
My best equipment would be my speaker, a bench, and a range of free weights!!
Favorite equipment- squat rack, barbell + weights, and kettlebells! Also love a good scrunchie and highwaisted leggings. I have been looking for a super supportive sports bra for so long but have not been able to find one. I have a very small chest cavity but very large boobs so most of the time I am either spilling out because I need the small band or I have the coverage but no support because the band is too large (even with the adjustables). Also- hate sports bras with the removable cups- take them out every time.
yoga mat, dynaband, weights
and magic circle
My top three are kettlebells, dumbbells and pilates reformer.
Matt, dumbells and a foam roller!
A TRX, A Power Systems Strength Band (https://www.power-systems.com/shop/product/strength-band) for stretching and resistance training, Ballet Barre
I got a spin bike in the height of the 2020 madness and it's still an integral part of my routine. I also have no interest in going back to the gym! My other essentials are a good yoga mat and resistance bands.
I also left 3 gyms I belonged to after the pandemic. I do my workouts at home in my kitchen. I follow Bodyfit by Amy on youtube. I used to use the Nike app as well. Because of back arthritis, I can't work out as hard as i used to. Even though I lost weight, my clothes are tighter, and i know that is bc of muscle loss. I work out more often bc I do it at home. I also try to walk 2 miles a day.
My go to's are extra long, extra wide mat, kettlebells and dumbbells. I have way more equipment that includes, weight bar, professional Pilates and GYROTONIC(R) Method equipment.
