I had knee replacement about 10 years ago & it’s not an easy surgery. Journal, meditate & when i could drive again i practiced chair yoga.
Before my surgery i was teaching power yoga, zumba & lifted when i could. Chair yoga helped me so much with my mind, body & spirit.
you can do it!
I have been doing chair yoga a couple of times at the gym, when the instructor does regular yoga.
@prazdancr - navigating a major surgery can be so tough for those of us who prioritize staying active! I can only imagine just how much more difficult that becomes when fitness is your profession. I actually underwent back surgery about three months ago, so can relate to having to approach fitness from a new angle. I can share that, for me, learning to take things at a slower pace for awhile - while challenging - has been super important from both a physical and emotional standpoint.
Ultimately everyone's journey is so different and my experience may not ultimately speak to you at all. And, of course, your doctors will be able to provide the best guidance related to your condition. I just wanted to say that I see you and am cheering you on as someone in the midst of a somewhat similar road to recovery.
I had both of my knees replaced this summer 12 weeks ago Tuesday. I am a gym owner, strength coach and Pilates instructor. It was sooo hard. Being strong going into it was obviously helpful but you can't make your quads fire. I'm finally feeling hopeful. I even took a Pilates training today and was able to do a bit of kneeling (on a pad). I didn't know up front how long it would take to feel good and also didn't know that even though kneeling is fine with knee replacements it isn't a good idea until 12 weeks out. Be patient with yourself and ease back in. Good luck!
I had one 12 weeks ago. I am amazed at how much better I feel, evne though I am in recovery. I think the degeneration of my knees has been impacting me for years without me even realizing it. I still have another knee to go but am putting it off for awhile, till this knee is more recovered.
