Meet Cassidy Meade, a Spin Instructor and Graphic Designer from Montana. Learn more about her love for movement, traveling, and creativity!
Q: Tell us a little about yourself!
Moving and making have always been a priority in my day-to-day!
My love for movement transpired when I was 4 and started Taekwondo. I earned my black belt, represented Montana at international tournaments and won a national title. On top of martial arts, I have fallen in love with aerial dance, hiking, weightlifting and spin classes. I actually became a spin instructor although I never learned to ride a bike! Beat-based workouts are now the key to my heart and you can catch me practicing choreography on my steering wheel at stop lights.
And as for the making part, art classes excited me most in school. I had a disposable camera in one hand and a crayon in the other as a kid. This passion for creativity led me to pursue a career in graphic design.
Q: How did you get started?
My journey in teaching fitness has been continuously evolving. Back in 2009, one of the prerequisites for my black belt test was to volunteer as an assistant instructor in Taekwondo classes. It was then I realized how much I loved supporting others in their own individual fitness journeys. As a female in a male-dominated sport, I grew up being told βfighting like a girlβ was an insult. It was important for me to switch this narrative to a statement of empowerment for your girls in martial arts.
Come 2014, I became president of the Taekwondo club for a year in college. As years passed, I became involved in other groups such as aerial dance, pole fitness, CrossFit, HIIT, yoga, spin and even kickball! With the encouragement of an instructor (shoutout to you, Jess!), I signed up for instructor training to become a spin teacher back in 2021. Having a front row seat to see others become a better version of themselves lit my soul on fire. The studio closed due to unfortunate circumstances not too long ago, so Iβm currently teaching females about self defense online.
Q: Whatβs your favorite Athleta product?
My heart says the Salutation Stash Tight but my closet says the Conscious Crop Bra A-C
Q: What are you most proud of in your career?
I'm most proud of pursing it in the first place! Careers in the creative industry tend to get looked down upon and a lot of people have tried talking me out of it.
Q: Whatβs your best piece of advice for others in your field?
Kindness and passion will get you further than talent ever will in the creative field. The ability to collaborate is valued more than the ability to create.
Q: How can we stay in touch?
Find me on instagram @see.meade π I'm always traveling with my partner and pup. I share moments in the Montana mountains and adventures from around the world.
