Hi loves! Spoiler alert, but as we get older and live our lives, our bodies change! This means that our yoga practice should change, as well. Not only should we honor the changes that come with aging, but there are also big seasonal changes, that we should be honoring too. Like, the transition from summer to fall!
Fall is an important transitional season as we move from the heat and outward energy of summer to the more quiet and inward winter. Our movement practices should absolutely reflect the external environment, but where to begin?
When
Wednesday Sept 29
2:00 PM PST / 5:00 PM EST

During this Ask Me Anything, we'll discuss (but not limited to):
- S uggestions for adapting your yoga practice for different times of year, day
- Suggestions for adapting your practice based on periods of our life (hello, our period! Or postpartum for eg ).
- Let's be honest and share how our practices have changed so we can normalize the changing body! Like, I'm no longer dropping back and standing up every day, nor will I likely ever again BUT I feel stronger than I've ever been in my entire life
- Or how I used to HAVE to do strong vinyasa, and now I just want to lay on a bolster
But of course, this is YOUR time to ask ME! Drop your q's and comments here and Sarah will be back Wed 9/29, 2p PT Live to chat about all the changes 🙂
I'm SUPER excited for this month's Ask Me Anything!!! There is a common misconception in yoga that if you can't do a pose, it's because you're not trying hard enough or doing something wrong. This could not be further from the truth!!!! Many poses are simply not appropriate for our bodies. This can be due as much to proportions (which we can't really change! Sorry bones) as flexibility and strength. Further to that, muscle length also plays a role. People often get discouraged when they come to a class and "can't do" a pose, but may I let you in on a little secret?! Yoga poses should work for us, not the other way around! Every single posture is possible for every single body, it just may not look like exactly like that IG pic you saved (and thank goodness). But the pranic effect (the energetic effect) and the intention can remain. In this AMA, we'll chat about (but not limited to): - Modifications for common poses (pop what poses you'd like to learn about modifications/variations here in the comments) - What's the difference between a variation and a modification? - How do you handle a situation when a teacher is pressuring you to do the full pose, but you know you need to modify? (hint, hint: you do YOU) - Many modifications require props. What do you do if you don't have any at home? Or the studio doesn't provide them? - And of course, anything else YOU would like!!!!! Can't wait to read and answer all your Q's! Pop them here in the comments section and I'll be back here NEXT Wed 10/20, 2p PT to answer!!!!
